About This Site: A Short Manifesto of Sorts

I toyed with the idea of starting a personal website for around a year before I finally decided that it was time. As of July 2025, I'm thirty-two years old, feel more like fifty, and I'm sick and tired of the ways that the major tech companies have corrupted the Internet and, by extension, society. Fewer people explore and actively engage with websites, instead passively consuming content. Over the past fifteen years, many millions of young people have had their personalities molded by algorithms, and many millions of older adults have had their sense of truth and reality warped by the same mechanisms of attention-stealing and ad promotion. Add to that the rising popularity of AI, which I firmly believe the big tech companies are intentionally using to discourage people from thinking for themselves and using their own creativity (and which I firmly believe a certain head of state is promoting for those very reasons) and you get the perfect storm for dumbing down human culture. That isn't the world I want to live in. I want a world that values

I built this "mansion" as my answer to the wild and wonderful websites of my childhood, back when things were less homogenized and it was still cool to let your freak flag fly online, and when the concept of using your personal website for ad promotion "influencing" didn't yet exist. Although I doubt this website's design will get as wild as some other Neocities sites I've seen, I believe that the open-ended, anything-goes approach to site construction is by far the best way both to create and to experience the Web. Here you'll find my thoughts on various things that interest me, along with fanworks and whatever else I feel like adding.
