An Annotated Bibliography of All the FF6 Doujinshi I Own

Last updated August 10, 2025

Notes: Names are in Japanese order with surname followed by given name. I created this annotated bibliography both as a record of my collection of largely vintage, largely out-of-print fan content based on Final Fantasy VI and as a home for my own reviews of said content.

Sakizo. Rouse: FINAL FANTASY 6 15th Anniversary Fan Art Anthology. November 1, 2009. 34 pages; [size].

This comes from a series of FF6 fanart anthologies and is in full color! [more]

Shurei Kouyu (Shi no Tenshi). [Title in romaji here with translation]. November 1996. 72 pages; 26 cm.

This Edgar-centric doujinshi by a professional shojo manga artist is *chef's kiss*. The art is gorgeous and the printing is remarkably high quality; the dust jacket is printed on watercolor paper and there are a few images printed on this really nice, thick, dark red paper inside. This one has several short comics, including one about Terra, one about Edgar and Sabin as children, and a yummy hurt/comfort story about Edgar comforting a sad, injured Setzer. There are also the results of a popularity poll, both for individual characters and for pairings, that give a glimpse into the tastes of the FF6 fandom of the time: for example, the most popular characters were Edgar, Locke, and Setzer, in that order; the most popular straight pairing was Locke x Celes; and the most popular same-sex pairing was Edgar x Setzer. The only negative thing I can think of to say about this doujin is that Kefka doesn't look clown-like enough; when he appears in the first story, his face looks exactly like Edgar's, but with lipstick and too much mascara.
